Nature's Food Wisdom


Nature really does have our backs - it is filled with powerful nutrients & healing chemicals that are health-optimising and disease-fighting. Even organ-specific ones.


Well before the benefit of nutritional science and research, our ancestors were able to determine which vegetables, fruit & herbs to eat, and for which body part, just by observation. Or more correctly, nature made sure to create the plant just so so that humans could see which foods are beneficial specifically to which organ or part of the body.


Plant-based foods are bursting with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, the plant's own defence system, that are also beneficial to us humans, promoting physical & mental health and wellbeing. Turning to nature truly is a natural, organic & optimal way to heal.

Food / Body benefit.

Carrots / Eyes

One of the most obvious food-body lookalikes are sliced carrots. They look very obviously like the pupil and iris. Carrots get their orange colour from a phytonutrient called beta-carotene, and also contain lutein, both of which bolster vision, support eye health & protect against macular degeneration. Beta-carotene converts into vitamin A, which is essential for vision.


Tomatoes / Heart

Just like the heart, not only are most tomatoes red in colour, but they have what resemble heart chambers on the inside. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a heart-healthy phytonutrient that reduces blood pressure & risk of a stroke, & vitamin C, am all around great anti-oxidant.


Celery Stalks / Bones

Celery stalks closely resemble bones. They contain silica, part of the molecular structure that give bones their strength, high levels of vitamin K, which works with calcium to keep bone density elevated, and potassium, which neutralises acids that erode bone calcium.


Grapes / Lungs

A cluster of grapes very much looks like the alveoli in the lungs. Grapes contain proanthocyadin that reduce the severity of asthma triggered by an allergy. Purple grapes also contain resveratrol, a potent antioxidant that has been proven to support longevity.


Coconuts / Head

With the roundness & hardness of a coconut, you can easily make the link to the human head. Research has shown that the Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil found in coconuts has a very positive effect on brain health, & can even improve brain function in people with Alzheimer's Disease.


Sweet potato / Pancreas

The sweet potato is not the only food that benefits the pancreas, but it is an important one! Sweet potatoes help balance blood sugar, and contain vitamin A & C, which are generally antioxidant & protective for all systems in the body.

Beets / Blood

The deep red colour of beets us akin to our blood colour. Beets are rich in iron, necessary to bolster hemoglobin, the red protein in the blood which carries oxygen all around the body. They are also rich in nitrates, which transform into nitric oxide, an essential substance in our blood vessels that looks after cardiovascular health by dilating blood vessels & reducing blood pressure.


Avocado / Uterus

The high folate content makes the avocado the perfect food for supporting reproductive health. As can be derived from its shape and large seed, it is crucial during pregnancy for the baby's health, balancing birth hormones, and can reduce the risk of cervical cancer. The avocado is also high in vitamin E, which can be beneficial in improving the lining of the uterus.


Walnuts / Brain

Walnuts are literally mini brains. They have an outer protective shell, and the nut itself uncannily resembles the left & right hemispheres of our brain. Walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E & folate. Research has shown that incorporating walnuts into your diet on a regular basis improves memory, learning, mental / neuron processing speed & cognition.


Olives / Ovaries

Olives take on an uncanny resembles to women's ovaries. Healthy monounsaturated fats are essential for creating reproductive hormones for conception & are conducive to maintaining general reproductive health in both women & men. Women that consume a good amount of olive oil also have a decreased risk in developing ovarian cancer.


Onions / Body Cells

Onions look a lot like your own body cells for very good reason. They are a great detox food, clearing waste related materials from your cells. They contain vitamin C, a great antioxidant against free radical damage, potassium, needed for normal cell function, and sulfur, which protects cells from cancer. Onions also make you cry, essentially cleaning the epithelial layer in the eyes.

Banana / Smile

Eating a banana will literally put a smile on your face. These joyful fruits are high in tryptophan, a protein that is converted into the neurotransmitter serotonin once it is digested in the body. Serotonin is a mood regulator for the brain, boosting your mood, and making you feel happier.

Ginseng / The Body

Ginseng has incredible healing properties for the whole body, so it is fitting that this root looks like a mini human. It can help reduce inflammation, increase energy, improve cognition, reduce blood sugar, balance stress levels, promote relaxation & modulate the immune system. Ginseng is a wonderful holistic addition to your day for your overall health!


Broccoli / Cancer Cells

Close up, broccoli looks like a cluster of cancer cells. The potent chemical sulforaphane has been shown to block mutations in DNA that lead to cancer as well as proliferation of cell multiplication. Cruciferous vegetables in general are bursting with vitamins, minerals & phytonutrients that are extremely antioxidant, cell protecting & healing.

Grapefruit / Breast

Grapefruits are very supportive of the body part they look like - the female mammary glands. They contain a substance called limonoids, which have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer. Grapefruits also assist the movement of lymph in & out the breast. Be careful with grapefruit however - it can have contraindications with certain medications.
